Putting pen to paper is a personal form of meditation and a method to calm my nervous system. No planning is involved in the creation of these patterns. I follow my instinct and decide what lines to draw and which shapes to fill or hatch based on what feels in the moment. For a geometric design, I often begin by lightly drawing a grid with pencil. Other more organic illustrations that don't require a grid are inspired by nature, microbiology, fluidity, and movement. I let my hand dictate what my heart is feeling.
